The Choir on tour in Grand Cayman
The Diocesan Festival Choir was inaugurated in 1925 under the direction of Mr. George Goode. The Choir was and has remained highly inter-denominational. The Choir, whose ministry is to present God and Jesus Christ to all who attend its presentations, continues to provide music of a high quality to a wide cross-section of the Jamaican population. It has approximately fifty (50) singers and meets for rehearsal on Mondays at the St. Luke’s Church Hall.

During 2009 the Concert Season focused on the production of “His light still shines” by Moses Hogan. It was originally commissioned in honour of Dr. Martin Luther King. The Choir regularly performs at selected Diocesan events and this included the Opening Service of the Anglican Consultative Council in May 2009 at the National Arena. Now celebrating its 85th Anniversary, the Choir will lead the musical presentations at a Service of Christmas Carols on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the Kingston Parish Church.

The Conductor is Mr. Michael Sutherland and the group is accompanied on piano and organ by Mrs. Ann Trouth. The Chairman of the Management Committee is Rt. Rev. Robert Thompson, Suffragan Bishop of Kingston.
